“….household objects constitute an ecology of signs that reflects as well as shapes the pattern of the owner’s self.” Csikszentmihalyi, M, & Rochberg-Halton, E., 1981
Reflecting on the routines associated with domesticity, this work examines the domestic landscape as an ecosystem: exploring the hidden world often obscured by the perceived banality of this environment. The resulting forms which evolve from this exploration begin to create their own macrobiotic existence, revealing a curious new realm of pseudo-specimens.
These Hidden Realms invite the viewer to take a fresh look at this environment; reflecting on the symbiotic nature of the domestic space, as both a social and environmental ecosystem.
