M.irbyana_01.08, 2012, donna davis, pigment print, 60x60cm

Works from the M.irbyana Project explore the struggle between native and introduced flora species: reflecting on the aesthetic and perceived value of flora in the context of our native ecology.

Plants and humans are intrinsically connected both sharing a vulnerability to environmental conditions: ecosystems such as the endangered M.irbyana Forest of South East Queensland, plays a vital role in the health of our planet and inturn to human well-being.

M.irbyana_01.08 explores the idea of cloning, preservation and fragility.

M.irbyana Project

New work from the M.irbyana project, (Ornamental invaders) by donna davis.

This work reflects on the human ecological narrative between aesthetics and stewardship, exploring the struggle between native and introduced flora species from an anthropocentric viewpoint: revealing the delicate dichotomy between control and interdependence.

Green houses..... (detail view), 2012
Donna Davis

Green houses.... will be installed as part of the 2012 Ipswich Festival. The temporary installation will occur on the 28th April at Queens Park as part of the Jazz Festival program.

Green houses.... is an ephemeral installation which explores our relationship with the natural world: reflecting on our sense of 'home' in an ecological context.

The work, constructed from ice, reflects the vulnerability of our 'home' to climatic conditions, evoking contemplation in relation to our symbiotic connection with our environmental 'home': Planet Earth.

This work has been supported with thanks to Ipswich Events Corporation, Ipswich Polar Ice and ARTtime Supplies.
