I will be holding my first solo exhibition next month entitled Hidden REALMS at Drawing Point Gallery. This body of work continues to explore the domestic space as an ecosystem; reflecting on patterns, routines and materials within this environment.

Size Matters - the SWICH Contemporary Art Space

This exhibition opens 2 November and will run until 27 November....a great concept it will be great to see how all the artists have interpreted the brief "Size Matters".

I was lucky enough to have my work Culture (I-VI), selected for this exhibition. This work investigates the narrative between object and aesthetic: wherein these often perceived banal objects begin to create their own macrobiotic existence. Through this dialogue, the viewer is challenged to reflect on the notion of the domestic space as both a social and environmental ecosystem.

Thank you to LeAnne Vincent and Gilbert Burgh for continuing to provide a diverse exhibition program of contemporary art here in Ipswich.

Ipswich Portraits

Thanks to an Regional Arts Development Fund Grant I am about to embark on a new project entitled "Ipswich Portraits". This project aims to create a visual story depicting the lives of 10 "everyday" Ipswich residents: documenting their unique stories through contemporary portaiture.

At this stage I am in the process of selecting the participants for this project.....will continue to keep updates on this blogsite on the development of this project.

Thankyou Swich Contemporary Art Space!!

I just wanted to thank both Gilbert Burgh and LeAnne Vincent from the Swich Contemporary Arts Space for allowing me to be involved in the recent "Changing Perceptions" exhibition in the Ipswich Community Art Gallery.

It was a fantastic experience for me allowing me to grow and develop as an artist. The collaborative experience was also one which was great --working with a group of artists allowed a lovely synergy between the works together with artistic growth amongst the artists themselves.

Thank you also everyone who was able to attend, and for the lovely comments on all of the works....I can't wait for the next installment.

Cheers

Changing Perceptions Exhibition

Artist Statement - Domus habitus

Using everyday domestic objects found in and around Ipswich, I have created an installation which reflects my interest in ecology, domesticity and industrialisation.

In this work I explore the 19th century fascination with capturing, collecting and displaying the natural world in a quasi-ecological display. The resulting "domestic ecosystem" draws parallels between the domestic and natural environments, inviting the viewer to explore the everyday on an alternate level: seeking to change perceptions regarding how we view and interact with the world around us.....
